BIRTH
Most new parents apply for a birth certificate while in the hospital. For home births or other situations when new parents need assistance applying for a birth certificate, the Health Department can provide guidance and an application. Reach us as 703.746.4991 or visit the VDH Office of Vital Records website.
MARRIAGE LICENSES
In Virginia, a clerk of the local Circuit Court issues marriage licenses. In the City of Alexandria, the Clerk's Office is at 520 King Street. Visit the Clerk's website for more on their requirements, application and costs.
Only after a marriage officiant completes, signs and returns the Marriage Register and the Marriage Return to the Clerk's Office is a Virginia marriage record created.
DIVORCES
The Circuit Court's clerk office does not have a 'divorce' application. Visit their website for more information.
