GO Alex

GO Alex encourages the reduction of automobile dependence, increasing mobility, and improving air quality through the promotion of public transit, ridesharing, bicycling, and walking as money and time-saving alternatives. GO Alex also works to improve the commuter experience, assisting employers with creating customized commuter programs for their employees. Additionally, GO Alex operates the DOT Paratransit Program and the City’s Transportation Management Plan (TMP) Program.

Alexandria residents benefit from access to an increasingly multimodal local transportation network as well as the region’s major mass transit systems. GO Alex staff will help you take advantage of these sustainable, efficient options, which make Alexandria a great place to live!

Transportation Management Plans

New development is required by the Zoning Ordinance to manage transportation impacts from their site. The City is in the process of updating the TMP requirements and overall program. The annual report summarizes activities for GO Alex, the City of Alexandria's dedicated Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program. TDM is the application of policies and strategies to increase the percentage of commuters using alternative transportation options while still ensuring Alexandria resident, workers, and visitors can reach destination within Alexandria.
