Food Assistance

Referrals to emergency food closets. Food delivery limited to homebound individuals. Call 703.746.5700.  For additional food assistance, see information on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. 

Clothing Assistance

Referrals to area clothing closets. Limited assistance for work-related clothing may be provided as resources allow. Call 703.746.5700 for more information.

Transportation

Transportation services for Homeless and Homeless Case Management. Call 703.746.5700 for more information. Visit  Aging and Adult Services for a list of other transportation services.

Dental Clinic Screening and Referral

Eligibility screening and referrals to the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic for adults with low-income who have no dental insurance. Covers most dental services. Contact the Customer Relations Team 703.746.5700. For emergency adult dental needs, contact the Alexandria Health Department's Adult Dental Clinic at 703.838.4420

Prescription Drug Assistance

Limited resources for one-time-only prescription assistance. Referrals to local Health Department or prescription assistance programs. Call 703.746.5700.

Eye Glasses

Referrals to Lions’ Club, Prevention of Blindness or other area non-profit organizations for glasses. Eye glass referrals can be made for individuals with current prescriptions only. Call 703.746.5700 for more information.

Burial Assistance

Assistance for basic burial or cremation needs for persons who were eligible, low-income City residents at a limited number of funeral homes. Contact the Office of Community Services at 703.746.5700.
