Public Art in Alexandria seeks to provide for future artistic endeavors and the promotion of Alexandria's cultural heritage, strengthen community pride, and foster tourism.

An Alexandria landmark for almost 50 years, it’s the highlight of the Potomac Riverfront, attracting approximately 500,000 visitors annually.

Celebrating collaboration and the diverse academic, artistic and creative endeavors that foster a strong future for innovation. This yearlong collaboration is in partnership with Alexandria and Virginia Tech and will feature a variety of exhibitions and performances through 2024.

Learn more about this year-round series of musical and art-focused activities, including the signature June ALX Jazz Fest on Saturday June 14, 2025. Additional programs include Jazz Fest Pop-Ups at various locations around town, and A Very Merry ALX Jazz Fest on Friday December 12, 2025. 

The City of Alexandria will celebrate its 276th and the USA’s 249th birthday on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Oronoco Bay Park (100 Madison St.). The event includes live music, cupcakes, cannons, and ending with the grand finale -- a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The Mobile Art Lab brings arts and culture to all communities in Alexandria, providing indoor/outdoor, free-to-attend events and activities that are open to the public within the Alexandria city limits.
