Combined Sewer System Stakeholder Advisory Group
RiverRenew Stakeholder Advisory Group
At the September 22nd City Council Legislative Hearing, Resolution 21-0163 was unanimously passed, establishing a new Stakeholder Advisory Group (SAG) for RiverRenew. Building off the foundation from previous SAGs, this group will monitor construction progress on the Tunnel System Project, the largest infrastructure project in Alexandria's history.
The next SAG meeting will be held on Thursday September 19, 2024 from 6-8 PM at Alexandria Renew Enterprises, 1800 Limerick Street, 6th floor. More information can be found here.
Past Information Regarding Stakeholder Advisory Group
Established through City Council Resolution No. 2850, a 13-member stakeholder advisory group (SAG) was formed to monitor the implementation of the Alexandria Renew Enterprises RiverRenew Project. This group is comprised of a diverse group of citizens representing Alexandria neighborhoods, businesses, environmental groups and other stakeholders.

Past Public Meetings Regarding the Combined Sewer System and the Long Term Control Plan Update
The City has been holding a number of public information meetings related to the Combined Sewer System Long Term Control Plan Update and the Combined Sewer System Permit issued by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality in August 2013. The agenda, presentation and video recording of these meetings can be found below.
April 5, 2018 - The City and AlexRenew held a public meeting to present the draft Long Term Control Plan and solicit comments and feedback.
May 20, 2017 - The City held a public information meeting to share information about how the new project deadline impacts the Combined Sewer System Long Term Control Plan Update submitted to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality in December 2016. April 21, 2016 - A public meeting was held that presented the proposed framework to the community. Information related to the April 21st meeting, including the presentation, can be found below.
June 18, 2015 - A public meeting was held that explained the progress to date the City has made in developing an update to its Long Term Control Plan to comply with new regulatory requirements. Information related to this meeting, including the presentation, can be found below.
February 15, 2015 - A public meeting was held o present information related to its ongoing combined sewer system planning efforts that are required to meet new water quality regulations in order to reduce the impacts of combined sewer overflows on receiving waterways. The City is required to update its Long Term Control Plan to meet the new regulations and must submit it to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality by August 2016. August 5, 2013 - A public meeting was held to present the draft CSS permit and inform residents how to provide comments on the permit to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
