Alexandria Housing Affordability Advisory Committee (AHAAC)

Background

AHAAC advises City Council on issues regarding the preservation and creation of affordable housing; makes recommendations on policies governing the City's Housing Trust Fund (HTF) and Housing Opportunities Fund; works with staff to monitor the implementation of the Housing Master Plan; and oversees the administration of the HTF. Meetings are open to the public. Spanish interpretation will be available at each meeting. For interpretation services in other languages, please submit a request no later than five business days in advance of the scheduled meeting. To learn more, please contact Kenny Turscak or Tamara Jovovic at 703.746.4990. Landlord-Tenant Relations Board

Background

The Landlord-Tenant Relations Board conciliates landlord-tenant complaints, and recommends and reports to City Council on legislation and policy in landlord-tenant relations. The Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Spanish interpretation will be available at each meeting. For interpretation services in other languages, please submit a request no later than five business days in advance of the scheduled meeting. To learn more, please contact Melodie Seau or visit the City Boards and Commissions page.

Alexandria Housing Development Corporation Board of Directors

Background

Incorporated as a separate 501 (c)(3) nonprofit housing development entity by the City of Alexandria, the primary mission of AHDC is to acquire, develop, preserve, operate and manage affordable housing in the City of Alexandria for very low, low and moderate income families and households.  

Housing Contributions Workgroup

Background

A housing contributions workgroup was convened in 2019 to discuss affordable housing contributions as they related to rezoning, master plan (land use) amendment, commercial to residential building conversion, and senior housing projects. City Council adopted amendments to the City's Procedures Regarding Affordable Housing Contributions on December 12, 2020 and January 26, 2021.
