Fairfax Resolves Program and Marker Dedication

Exactly 250 years after British colonists in Virginia wrote radical and influential words that forged the path to revolution, the City of Alexandria commemorated the Fairfax Resolves. The evening included history booths, a marker dedication, the United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps performance, and remarks by reenactors portraying George Washington and George Mason. Keynote remarks were given by Carly Fiorina, Virginia's National Honorary Chairperson of the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission. Partner organizations include VA250, Historic Alexandria, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, George Mason’s Gunston Hall, Carlyle House Historic Park, and the Fairfax Resolves Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution.

Watch the the City of Alexandria commemorate the 250th anniversary of the writing of the Fairfax Resolves, a pivotal moment when Virginia colonists penned a document that challenged British authority and inspired the fight for independence. (Video length 1:05 hours)
