Stormwater Utility and Flood Mitigation Advisory Committee
Stormwater Utility and Flood Mitigation Advisory Committee collaborates with City staff and elected officials in shaping the Flood Action Alexandria program to reduce the impact of future flood threats.
Alexandria City Council established the Ad Hoc Stormwater Utility and Flood Mitigation Advisory Group by resolution on Jan. 26, 2021. On December 16, 2023, the Council approved by ordinance the creation of the permanent Stormwater Utility and Flood Mitigation Advisory Committee.
Advisory Committee Responsibilities
The Advisory Committee's responsibilities include:
- Serve as liaison between City staff and the community regarding the Flood Action Alexandria Program;
- Review and provide input on relevant Program documents and produces developed by staff;
- Review recommendations for Program funding and, as appropriate, support funding requests;
- Monitor and disseminate relevant laws and regulations that may affect the Program; and
- Inform Council of Committee activities.
