Our Partners
The City of Alexandria Workforce Development Center partners with other agencies that offer services through the State of Virginia. This has allowed the public to utilize our center to apply for benefits and supportive services.
These include, but are not limited to:
- Alexandria/Arlington Regional Workforce Council is responsible for advancing workforce development programs and initiatives that achieve sustainable economic growth in the region.
- Alexandria Commission on Employment is responsible for developing a City-wide plan for employment services that reflects the goals of linking existing City employment and training programs with employment and training programs operated by the City school systems and with the economic development program operated by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with City Council. Alexandria Economic Development Partnership works to strategically support businesses, development, and economic growth in Alexandria and promotes the city as a creative, diverse, knowledge-based community with a high quality of life.
In 2018, New American Economy (NAE), in partnership with the Workforce Development Center and the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership, released New Americans in Alexandria, a report detailing the economic contributions of immigrants in Alexandria, the role they play in the local labor force, and their participation in recent population growth.
- Catholic Charities of Arlington and Office of Migration and Refugee Employment Services.
- Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) supports employment and extended services to Workforce Development Center job seekers by referrals.
- Melwood provides free employment assistance for TANF recipients and persons with disabilities.

- National Council on Aging (NCOA) Senior Community Service Employment Program assists low-income, unemployed individuals aged 55+ find work.
- Upwardly Global works to eliminate employment barriers for skilled immigrant and refugee professionals to help them navigate and succeed in the U.S. job search.
- Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) is a public employment service established to assist employers in finding qualified workers and to assist workers in finding suitable jobs. The VEC is also committed to assisting transitioning military, National Guard, Reserve Component Members and veterans to be productive in the civilian workforce.
