T&ES focuses on superior customer service, environmental and transportation projects that promote economic development, strategic management, employee relations and environmental sustainability:

Mission Statement
The Department of Transportation & Environmental Services (T&ES) is a community partner in shaping a livable, green, and prospering Alexandria. We plan, build, operate, and maintain transportation systems and infrastructure that improve mobility and provide people and businesses with core public services. The work we do keeps Alexandrians moving, growing sustainably, and thriving.

Interim Director of Transportation and Environmental Services (T&ES)

Moon leads the department and its functions in an interim capacity, including transportation systems and infrastructure, emergency weather planning, and refuse collection for Alexandria.
Tarrence Moorer
Deputy Director of Waste & Traffic Management

Moorer oversees trash and recycling, yard waste, street sweeping, and leaf collection operations. He is responsible for the teams that manage the City's municipal fleet and traffic activities, including City streetlights, traffic signals, pavement markings, and wayfinding signage.

Orr oversees transportation planning, transportation engineering, and mobility services, including the City’s GO Alex program.

Deputy Director of Engineering and Right of Way

The Deputy Director of Engineering and Right of Way oversees the department's street and sewer maintenance work, which includes the City's pavement and sidewalk repair programs, and both permitting and surveying functions.

The Deputy Director of Environmental Services oversees the City’s environmental services, including air, noise, and water quality programs, stormwater management, and permitting for the City’s Combined Sewer System.
