Juneteenth Schedule of Services for the City of Alexandria
All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed Wednesday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Other schedule changes and closures are listed below.
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS)
Wednesday, June 19: Closed.
Alexandria Transit Company (DASH)
Wednesday, June 19: DASH bus service will operate on a regular service schedule.
The free King Street Trolley operates from King Street Metro to City Hall/Market Square with service every 15 minutes, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., every day.
Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA)
Wednesday, June 19: Closed.
For animal emergency or wildlife concerns, call 703.746.4444.
Courts
Wednesday, June 19: The General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Court Service Unit, Circuit Court, and the Clerk of Circuit Court will be closed.
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
Wednesday, June 19: Closed. Customers should check the hours of their local DMV Select location, as it may operate outside of the state holiday closing schedule.
Emergency Hotlines
All emergency hotlines operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the Child Protective Services Hotline at 703.746.5800; the Domestic Violence Hotline at 703.746.4911; the Emergency Mental Health Services or substance use crisis hotline at 703.746.3401; the Adult Protective Services hotline at 703.746.5778 or 988; and the Sexual Assault Hotline at 703.683.7273.
Health Facilities
Wednesday, June 19: Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center, and the Teen Wellness Center at Alexandria City High School's King Street Campus and Minnie Howard Campus will be closed.
Historic Alexandria
Wednesday, June 19: The Alexandria Black History Museum and Freedom House Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. All other museums will be open according to their standard operating schedules.
Impound Lot
Wednesday, June 19: Closed.
The City’s impound lot is closed on all weekends and observed City holidays. Fees will continue to accrue on Saturday and Sunday, but not on holidays.
Libraries
Wednesday, June 19: All Alexandria Library branches will be closed.
Parking
Wednesday, June 19: The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces and residential permit parking districts. This suspension of enforcement applies only to the restrictions at legal parking spaces and does not permit parking in any normally prohibited location. Temporary no-parking signs will be enforced.
Recreation, Nature and Arts Centers
Wednesday, June 19:

Warwick Pool, Old Town Pool, and Memorial Pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Charles Houston Recreation Center and Patrick Henry Recreation Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All other City of Alexandria recreation and nature centers will be closed.
Resource Recovery
Wednesday, June 19 to Friday, June 21: Residential refuse and recycling collection normally scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday will be delayed by one day. Curbside food waste collection will follow the normal collection service schedule.
Torpedo Factory Art Center
Wednesday, June 19: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. according to its standard operating schedule.
