Virginia Certified Law Enforcement
Have you graduated from a Virginia DCJS-certified academy, completed your Field Training, and are looking for a new opportunity? Then we are the place for you!
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently employed as a Virginia law enforcement officer, or employed within the last two years
- Left former agency in good standing
Virginia DCJS certified officers can:
- Skip the written test on the hiring process
- Be placed at the salary step matching your years of prior relevant service
- Skip a second academy
- Be on patrol in Alexandria in just a few months

Out-of-state certified law enforcement
Are you a certified law enforcement officer outside of Virginia and looking for a new opportunity? Then we are the place for you!
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently employed as a law enforcement officer, or employed within the last two years
- Have at least 3 consecutive years of sworn law enforcement service
- Left former agency in good standing
Out-of-State certified officers can:
- Skip the written test on the hiring process
- Be placed at the salary step matching your years of prior relevant service for the first five (5) years of prior relevant experience; for every additional two-and-a-half (2.5) years of relevant experience, applicants will receive an additional step on the pay scale
- Attend an abbreviated Virginia DCJS-approved academy
- Be on patrol in Alexandria in just a few months
