Christmas and New Year's Schedule of Services for the City of Alexandria
All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday. All City Offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in observance of the New Year’s holiday.

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS)
Monday, December 23, 2024-Friday, January 3, 2025: All schools will be closed for winter break.
Alexandria Transit Company (DASH)
Tuesday, December 24: Normal DASH bus service operation. Alexandria Transit Company administrative offices will be closed.
Wednesday, December 25: DASH bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule. The Alexandria Transit Company administrative offices will be closed.
Tuesday, December 31: Normal DASH bus service operation. Alexandria Transit Company administrative offices will be open.
Wednesday, January 1, 2025: DASH bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule. Alexandria Transit Company administrative offices will be closed.
The free King Street Trolley operates from King Street Metro to City Hall/Market Square with service every 15 minutes, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day.
Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA)
Tuesday, December 24: Open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adoptions begin at noon.
Wednesday, December 25: Closed
Tuesday, December 31: Open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adoptions begin at noon.

Health Facilities
Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25: Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center, and the Teen Wellness Center at Alexandria City High School will be closed.
Tuesday, December 31: Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center, and the Teen Wellness Center will be open 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
Wednesday, January 1, 2025: Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center, and the Teen Wellness Center at Alexandria City High School will be closed.
Historic Alexandria
Tuesday, December 24: Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site and The Alexandria History Museum at the Lyceum will be closed.
Wednesday, December 25: All City Museums will be closed.
Thursday, December 26: Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum closed. All other museums on regular operating schedule.
Tuesday, December 31: Friendship Firehouse Museum will be open 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Wednesday, January 1, 2025: All City Museums will be closed.

Tuesday & Wednesday, December 24-25: Closed.
Wednesday & Thursday, December 31, 2024-January 1, 2025: Closed.
The City’s impound lot is closed on all weekends and observed City holidays. Fees will continue to accrue on Saturday and Sunday, but not on holidays.

Parking
Tuesday-Wednesday, December 24-25: The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces and residential permit parking districts. This suspension of enforcement applies only to the restrictions at legal parking spaces and does not permit parking in any normally prohibited location. Temporary no-parking signs will be enforced.

Resource Recovery
Residential refuse, recycling, yard waste, and curbside food waste will be delayed by one day starting on Wednesday, December 25. The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center will be open on Monday, December 23, and closed Wednesday, December 25.
