APD Hosts 2nd Annual Public Safety Trunk-or-Treat
APD Hosts Public Safety Trunk-or-Treat
Alexandria, VA - On Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 5-7 p.m., the Alexandria Police Department in collaboration with Alexandria Public Safety Agencies will host a Trunk-or-Treat event open to all families, in the parking lot of the Alexandria Police Department located at 3600 Wheeler Avenue. Agencies coming together include the Alexandria Police Department, Alexandria Sheriff’s Office, Alexandria Fire and EMS Department, Alexandria 311 and the Department of Emergency and Customer Communications.
Families are invited to enjoy the free event and trick-or-treat while exploring public safety vehicles and meeting officers, firefighters, and personnel. Halloween costumes are encouraged as each public safety agency hands out candy from the trunks of decorated vehicles. There will be DJ music and seasonal costumed characters.
“Our Trunk-or-Treat is a safe alternative or an addition to door-to-door trick or treating and provides an opportunity for the community to support our kids and families,” said Lt. Tony Moore, APD Community Outreach Division. “Many divisions of the APD decorate their trunks and get into the Halloween spirit. It’s a great way for us to give back to the community and ensure kids have a fun and safe trick-or-treating experience.”
In it’s second year, the Alexandria Public Safety Trunk-or-Treat is quickly becoming a Fall favorite. This free, family-friendly event is open to children of all ages and offers a safe and festive environment for trick-or-treating. We would like to thank the Alexandria Police Foundation for making this outreach event possible.
