Eisenhower East Small Area Plan Process 2019-2020
Given the City's goal for Eisenhower East to remain one of Alexandria's key economic development engines, and recognizing that market conditions, particularly for retail and office uses, significantly changed since the 2003 plan, this update considered enhanced flexibility of land uses, building heights, and potential additional development, as well as built on or enhanced existing goals for thriving retail and entertainment, a balance of residents and employees, expanded mobility and connectivity, enhanced pedestrian safety and accessibility, and a network of connected open spaces and trails for all to enjoy.

Carlyle/Eisenhower East Design Review Board
The Carlyle/Eisenhower East Design Review Board reviews development applications specific to the area for compliance with the 2020 Eisenhower East Small Area Plan and 2006 Eisenhower East Design Guidelines. The Board makes recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council through the Director of Planning and Zoning.
