Project Description
The Del Ray Gateway project will redevelop the triangle park at the corners of Mount Vernon and Commonwealth Avenues. The site will be designed and developed in phases. The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities (RPCA) is currently undertaking a project to transform the existing pool to an interactive fountain/splash park. The improvements are funded through the City of Alexandria’s Capital Improvement Program and a Community Matching Fund partnership with The Del Ray Gateway Project.

- Construction Contract Awarded October 2024.
- November 14: City/Contractor pre-construction kick-off meeting is scheduled.
Pre-construction activities and project mobilization will begin in November weather permitting.- Following the pre-construction meeting, staff will conduct community outreach and coordination with stakeholder groups.
