The goal of Virginia WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) is to improve the health of pregnant women, infants and children (under 5 years) through better nutrition and access to health care. The Program provides nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support, supplemental nutritious foods, counseling at WIC clinics, and screening and referrals to other health, welfare, and social services. Nutrition Services/WIC

The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program provides nutritious food benefits, nutrition counseling, promotes breastfeeding and provides breastfeeding support to pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, and for infants and children up to the age of 5 years. WIC also issues free breast pumps to eligible breastfeeding mothers. All services are by appointment only. 

Health and nutrition programs are also available for educational and nonprofit groups in the community (depending on staff availability). For more information about WIC and what to bring for an appointment, please consult Virginia Department of Health's WIC site.
