Voter Registration Information
How to Register & Vote in Alexandria
The deadline to register, or update your registration information, is 22 days before a General or Primary election. You may disqualify yourself from voting if you move within Virginia and do not update your voter registration information with your new address.
Same Day Voter Registration
Same day registration refers to the ability to register to vote in-person and immediately vote a provisional ballot after the deadline to register and vote a non-provisional ballot has passed. Beginning with the 2022 General Election, the General Assembly approved legislation that provides the ability to register at any time, up to and including election day. Additional information can be found on the Virginia Department of Election's website.
