SNAP Double Dollars Program 

The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Double Dollar Program allows SNAP customers who visit the Old Town Farmers’ Market, and other participating markets, to receive up to $20 in double dollars to purchase eligible food products at the Market. The Double Dollar Program is an incentive for families to shop at farmers’ markets where they can access healthier, locally grown foods.

Program Benefits 

Research shows that low-income households participating in SNAP Double Dollars obtain more nutrients, like proteins and an array of essential vitamins and minerals for their home food supply. Approximately 4,400 Alexandria families live with food insecurity and receive SNAP benefits. Double Dollars helps these vulnerable families stretch their food dollars. This initiative also helps increase the customer base at the Market, creating an additional source of revenue for the vendors.

Double Dollars has been operating at the Old Town Farmer’s Market since 2013. We need your help to continue to make local, healthy and delicious food more accessible to those with food insecurity. Donation proceeds pay for the match incentive, help boost the local economy and improve the lives of local farmers. We cannot meet our goals without the involvement of the community.

**All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of federal and state law. Donations can be made online by credit or debit card.

Old Town Farmers’ Market

The Old Town Farmers’ Market is located on King Street between North Royal and North Fairfax streets and is open Saturdays year-round from 7 a.m. to noon.
