The Peer Advocate Program was developed through a partnership among the Sexual Assault Center, the Domestic Violence Program, the Alexandria Campaign on Adolescent Pregnancy (ACAP), and the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria (SAPCA). Peer advocates work with these organizations and community partners to teach other Alexandria teens about topics related to making healthy life choices and informing them about relevant community resources. The peer advocates help plan workshops, presentations and events for youth in the Alexandria community as well as create social media content for Alexandria Teen Life and act as youth representatives at community meetings including Children and Youth Community Plan, ACAP or SAPCA boards.

The Peer Advocate Program began with a high school cohort, and through the Sexual and Domestic Violence Prevention Project, launched a young adult cohort in 2024 to build on the success of this peer-to-peer program and expand violence prevention programming in the City of Alexandria.
