Car Seat Safety Check Event

Are you a prospective or new parent? Do you need help installing a child car seat, or do you want a car seat inspected to ensure it's installed correctly? Join the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office at a FREE Car Seat Safety Event on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Adult Detention Center.

Deputies who are certified in car seat installation will be available to help parents install child car seats. All parents need to bring their car, the car seat, and the installation manual for the car seat. Deputies will walk parents through proper installation or inspect an already installed seat to ensure it is safe.

The event will take place in the visitor parking lot of the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center, located at 2003 Mill Road, Alexandria, VA.

Congratulations to ASO’s Newest Deputies! 

Congratulations to ASO’s newest deputies, Deputy Datis and Deputy Decker. Earlier this month, both deputies graduated from the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy and were sworn in as deputies. We are excited to add these two dedicated professionals to our team.

Service Spotlight: Deputy Cromer Receives American Legion Award

Earlier this month, Deputy Cromer was awarded the American Legion State of Virginia Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award for 2025. Deputy Cromer is an exemplary deputy who embodies the Office values of Integrity, Respect, Professionalism, and Unity. Since joining the Alexandria Sheriff's Office, he has been a role model for teammates through his calm demeanor, respectful interactions with coworkers and inmates alike, and de-escalation skills. 

Recently, he has carried his drive for service and compassion beyond the jail through the City of Alexandria's Youth Mentorship Program. We are thankful for the dedication, leadership, and service Deputy Cromer displays day in and day out!

New Beginnings: Congratulations to Newly Promoted Lieutenant Bryant

Sheriff Casey is pleased to announce that earlier this month, Corey Bryant was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. 

Lieutenant Bryant joined the Office in 2016 and has served on Teams 2A and 2B and in Judicial Services, Field Operations, and Support Services. In 2018, he was selected for Project Lifesaver, and in 2019, he was named to Team 2A’s Emergency Response Team and as its Gang Intelligence Representative. Throughout his time at the Alexandria Sheriff's Office, he has repeatedly been commended for his professionalism, leadership, and outstanding work ethic.
