Park and Recreation Commission to Hold Public Hearings on February 19

The Park and Recreation Commission will hold two public hearings on Thursday, February 19, 7 p.m. at Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street.

The Commission will receive public comments on and take action on the proposed staff recommendations described below. Following the public hearing, the Park and Recreation Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting.

Park and Recreation Public Hearing Agenda Items

  1. Proposed Updates to the Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities Resource Allocation and Cost Recovery Policy

    Description: Public hearing to receive public comment and staff recommendations to the proposed 2026 Resource Allocation and Cost Recovery Policy

  2. FY 2025 Community Matching Fund Proposals

    Public hearing to receive information and staff recommendations on the following applications received for the FY 2025 Community Matching Fund:

  • Dale Street Community Gardens

    Address: 100 Dale Street
    Applicant: Dale Street Community Gardens

    Description: Request to add picnic tables and to expand existing pergola area 

  • Ben Brenman Park

    Address: 4800 Ben Brenman Park Drive
    Applicant: Alexandria Little League

    Request: Request to add scoreboard to existing diamond ballfield

  • Schuyler Hamilton Jones Skateboard Park

    Address:  3540 Wheeler Avenue

    Applicant: Skate and Donate
    Description: Request to provide small-scale equipment improvements
