Community Meeting on Old Town Pool Renovation Project – Tuesday, September 16
The City of Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities invites the public to attend a community meeting regarding the Old Town Pool Renovation Project. Join us on Tuesday, September 16, at 7 p.m. at the Oswald Durant Center (1605 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA).
During the meeting, City staff will provide an update on the project and share the proposed design concept for the new pool and bathhouse facility. Your feedback is welcome and encouraged as we move forward with this exciting community investment.
“We appreciate the community’s flexibility and patience throughout this summer as we managed and communicated the closures and maintenance repairs. As the pool turned 50 this year, we are looking forward to a better future by initiating and completing major repairs and improvements, ensuring consistent service and operations for the community in the near future,” said Hashim T. Taylor, Director of the Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities (RPCA).
The Old Town Pool Replacement Project will fully replace the existing pool and bathhouse with a modernized facility designed to better meet the community’s current and future needs. Planning for this project began in 2012 as part of the City’s Aquatic Facilities Study, which identified the need to replace the aging infrastructure. The project is funded through the City of Alexandria’s Capital Improvement Program. We look forward to and encourage the entire community of Alexandria to come out as we share the great news of this capital project.
