Park & Recreation Commission to Hold a Public Hearing on Proposed Renovation to Eugene Simpson Stadium Park

The Park & Recreation Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday, May 18 at 7 p.m. virtually on Zoom to discuss the proposed design for the Eugene Simpson Stadium Park renovation. If you are unable to attend the public hearing, comments will be accepted by mail or email until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023. Please mail written comments to RPCA, ATTN: Bethany Znidersic, 1108 Jefferson Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. Following the public hearing, the Park and Recreation Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting.

The public hearing will be held virtually as follows:

The proposed design will implement outstanding recommendations of the 2014 Citywide Parks Improvement Plan, including improvements to the diamond fields, pedestrian pathways, plantings, parking, and accessibility. The project will support the City Council 2022 Community Priority to Support Youth and Families by implementing the community-based plan recommendations, and the City’s goal of providing equitable access to facilities and services.

The Park & Recreation Commission will receive public comment on May 18 and provide a recommendation to the Planning Commission and City Council regarding the proposed renovation. For additional information, visit the project website.
