Witter Place Applications to Open May 14

The City of Alexandria is pleased to announce that Witter Place Apartments will start accepting applications on May 14. Located at 2712 Duke Street in Alexandria, VA, the community, upon completion, will have 94 two- and three-bedroom affordable units. The community is anticipated to be ready for occupancy no later than September 1. 

Ten units will be mobility accessible. These units will feature a side-by-side washer/dryer, accessible height countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms, a 30” workspace in the kitchen, and grab bars in the bathrooms (upon request). 

In addition, two units will be designed for residents with visual and hearing impairments.

Amenities

All units will include in-unit washer/dryers. The community, which is on several major bus lines, will have a fitness center, community room, business center, indoor bicycle storage, Wi-Fi service, and telehealth office. Free underground parking will be available to the first 65 residents that provide registration information. Vehicles must be registered under the leaseholder's name.   

Basic Eligibility Information

To be eligible for a unit, applicants must income qualify. Depending on the affordability of the unit (expressed as a percentage of AMI or the area median income), total household income must fall between minimum and maximum limits (listed below). To determine total household income, interested applicants should add the before-tax income of all residents in the household. This includes income from all forms of employment, Social Security, unemployment benefits, TANF, retirement benefits, workers compensation, and recurring gifts.

Income Minimums  

To qualify for a unit, an applicant’s total household income must be at a minimum 2.5 times the monthly rent.

Rent and Utilities

Rents depend on the level of affordability of the unit (expressed as a percentage of AMI or the area median income). Please note that the rents shown below are subject to increase in May based on federal guidelines. Utilities are not included in the rents. Residents are responsible for utilities, including water, sewer, and electricity.

Application Process:

Witter Place will start accepting applications starting May 14. To apply, please contact the property at 703.344.7737 or email witterplace@chpc2.org for an application starting May 14. Applications will be accepted via email and in-person at 2712 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. Applicants will be required to provide identification, proof of income, information about assets and other documentation and payment for any required fees.

Fees:

The application fee is $32 per adult applicant. The security deposit fee ranges from $500 to one month’s rent depending on credit check results. Both fees must be submitted with the application for the application to be considered complete for processing. Separate pet fees apply.
