For Immediate Release: September 22, 2025

2025 Vehicle Personal Property (Car Tax) and Business Personal Property taxes must be paid by Monday, October 6, 2025, to avoid late payment penalty and interest. A 10% penalty applies to payments made after October 6 and increases to 25% for payments made after November 5.

Vehicle Personal Property tax payments can be made online at alexandriava.gov/Payments or mailed to: City of Alexandria, P. O. Box 34710, Alexandria VA 22334-0710.

Business Personal Property tax payments can be made online at alexandriava.gov/Payments or mailed to: City of Alexandria, P. O. Box 34901, Alexandria VA 22334-0901.

In-person payments can be made at City Hall, 301 King Street, Room 1510, or at the West End Finance Office, 4850 Mark Center Drive, Suite 2011, Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM.  Payments are also accepted 24 hours a day at the City Hall drop box on the Royal Street side of the building. Payments must be in the drop box by midnight on October 6, 2025, to be considered on time.

City Hall and Market Square are being renovated, so departments currently located in City Hall will need to move to new locations. Departments will start moving in August 2025 and continue moving through 2026.
