For Immediate Release: July 22, 2024

Media Contact: Christine Levine, MSW, Coordinator of Community Resources,
703.746.5663, christine.levine@alexandriava.gov

The Center for Alexandria's Children and The Fund for Alexandria’s Child are proud to announce the opening of ALX Closet, a new Clothing & Resource Center located at the Del Pepper Community Resource Center (4850 Mark Center Drive, 5th Floor). Members of the media are invited to the grand opening on Thursday, August 1 at 10 a.m. to celebrate this important milestone and learn how the resource will benefit the community.

ALX Closet is dedicated to supporting Alexandria's children and families in times of emergency or crisis by providing essential items to people in need, ensuring that every child and family has access to clothing and other necessities during challenging times. ALX Closet will be stocked with:

  • Children's clothing up to size 14/16 (and gift cards, as available)
  • Additional family resources: diapers, wipes, formula
  • Toiletries and hygiene products

Call for Donations

We need the community’s help to fill our shelves! To ensure we can support as many families as possible, ALX Closet is accepting donations of brand-new children's clothing (up to size 16), along with the items listed above. Donations can be brought to the address above. Your tax-deductible contributions will make a significant difference in the lives of Alexandria's children and families. We also welcome inquiries about forming community partnerships. Together, we can provide the support and resources families need to thrive.

The Center for Alexandria's Children provides prevention, intervention, and treatment programs to protect and heal our city’s children and families. The Fund for Alexandria’s Child processes requests to provide immediate assistance in the form of basic needs and life-enhancing opportunities to children in foster care and children who are at risk of abuse and neglect.
