All City of Alexandria government offices and facilities will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28. 

CORRECTION: The Alexandria Courts will be closed on Wednesday, January 28. Please check the individual courts website for operating status. 

The Winter Shelter at 2355-A Mill Road is open with extended, 24-hour operations until Tuesday, February 3 at 12 p.m.

Trash, recycling, yard waste, and curbside composting collection is cancelled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. There will not be a make-up run taking place for these days.

The City of Alexandria remains under a Snow Emergency declaration through Tuesday, January 27, at 11:59 p.m. City crews are continuing snow removal operations.  

Go to alexandriava.gov/Alert for updates on the City’s response to the Winter Storm.

  • Call 703.746.4444 to report downed trees and limbs on City streets, sidewalks, and property or any other non-emergency concerns.
  • Call Dominion Energy at 866.DOM.HELP (866.366.4357) or go to dominionenergy.com to report trees on power lines and power outages
  • Call Virginia American Water at 800.452.6863 to report a water main break or for questions about water service.
  • Call 911 for emergencies.
