Thanksgiving Schedule of Services for the City of Alexandria
All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, to observe Thanksgiving. Other schedule changes and closures are listed below.
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS)
Wednesday, November 26: ACPS Offices are closed.
Thursday, November 27: ACPS Offices are closed.
Friday, November 28: ACPS Offices are closed.
Alexandria Transit Company (DASH)
Thursday, November 27: In observance of Thanksgiving, DASH will operate on a Saturday-Sunday (weekend) schedule. Lines 102, 103, and 104 will not run.
Friday, November 28: DASH bus service will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
The King Street Trolley runs daily, every 15 minutes, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Please note that DASH Administrative Offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.
Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA)
Thursday, November 27: Closed
Friday, November 28: Open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Courts
Wednesday, November 26: The General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Court Service Unit, Circuit Court, and the Clerk of Circuit Court will close at noon (12 p.m.).
Thursday, November 27: The General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Court Service Unit, Circuit Court, and the Clerk of Circuit Court are closed.
Friday, November 28: The General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Court Service Unit, Circuit Court, and the Clerk of Circuit Court are closed.
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
Thursday, November 27: DMV offices are closed.
Friday, November 28: DMV offices are closed.
Saturday, November 29: DMV offices are closed.

Emergency Hotlines
All emergency hotlines operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the Child Protective Services Hotline at 703.746.5800; the Domestic Violence Hotline at 703.746.4911; the Emergency Mental Health Services or substance use crisis hotline at 703.746.3401; the Adult Protective Services hotline at 703.746.5778 or 988; and the Sexual Assault Hotline at 703.683.7273.
Health Facilities
Wednesday, November 26: Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center, and the Teen Wellness Center will close at noon.
Thursday, November 27: Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center, and the Teen Wellness Center are closed.
Friday, November 28: Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center, and the Teen Wellness Center are closed.
Historic Alexandria
Thursday, November 27: All Historic Alexandria museums will be closed.
Friday, November 28: The Alexandria Archaeology Museum, the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum, the Fort Ward Museum, the Freedom House Museum, Gadsby's Tavern Museum, and the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum will be open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All other Historic Alexandria museums will be closed.
Impound Lot
Thursday, November 27: Closed
Friday, November 28: Closed
The City’s impound lot is closed on all weekends and observed City holidays. Fees will continue to accrue on Saturday and Sunday, but not on holidays.
Libraries
Wednesday, November 26: Alexandria Law Library closes at noon (12 p.m.).
Thursday, November 27: All Alexandria Libraries will be closed.
Friday, November 28: All Alexandria Libraries will be closed.
Parking
Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28: The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces and residential permit parking districts. This suspension of enforcement applies only to the restrictions at legal parking spaces and does not permit parking in any normally prohibited location. Temporary no-parking signs will be enforced.
Recreation and Nature Centers
Thursday, November 27: All RPCA facilities will be closed.
Friday, November 28: Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility, Charles Houston Recreation Center, and Patrick Henry Recreation Center will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All other City of Alexandria recreation facilities and nature centers will be closed.
Resource Recovery
Trash, recycling, and yard waste collections will follow the normal collection service schedule.
Curbside food waste collection will not be collected on Thursday, November 27. Collection of curbside food waste will slide by one day for the remainder of the week.
The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center will open as usual on Saturday, November 29.
Torpedo Factory Art Center
Thursday, November 27: The Torpedo Factory Art Center will be closed.
Friday, November 28: The Torpedo Factory Art Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To learn of occasional 5 p.m. closures, visit torpedofactory.org/todays-hours.
