City of Alexandria government offices will be closed Monday, February 17, in observance of George Washington's Birthday. Other schedule changes and closures are listed below.  

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) 

Monday, February 17: No School for ACPS Students. 

Alexandria Transit Company (DASH) 

Monday, February 17: DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule. Alexandria Transit Company administrative offices will be closed.  

The free King Street Trolley operates from King Street Metro to City Hall/Market Square with service every 15 minutes, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., every day.  

Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) 

Monday, February 17: Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adoptions begin at noon.  

For animal emergency or wildlife concerns, call 703.746.4444. 

Courts 

Monday, February 17: The General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Court Service Unit, Circuit Court, and the Clerk of Circuit Court will be closed.  

Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)

Monday, February 17: All Virginia DMV customer service centers, the DMV Direct call centers, and DMV social media customer service will be closed. Over 50 services are available 24/7 online at https://www.dmv.virginia.gov.

Emergency Hotlines 

All emergency hotlines operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the Child Protective Services Hotline at 703.746.5800; the Domestic Violence Hotline at 703.746.4911; the Emergency Mental Health Services or substance use crisis hotline at 703.746.3401; the Adult Protective Services hotline at 703.746.5778 or 988; and the Sexual Assault Hotline at 703.683.7273.  

Health Facilities 

Monday, February 17: Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center, and the Teen Wellness Center will be closed. 

Historic Alexandria 

Monday, February 17: Gadsby’s Tavern Museum will be open from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. All other museums will be closed. City of Alexandria residents receive free admission to museums. 

Impound Lot 

Monday, February 17: Closed.  

The City’s impound lot is closed on all weekends and observed City holidays. Fees will continue to accrue on Saturday and Sunday, but not on holidays.  

Libraries 

Monday, February 17: All Alexandria Library locations will be closed.  

Parking 

Monday, February 17: The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces and residential permit parking districts. This suspension of enforcement applies only to the restrictions at legal parking spaces and does not permit parking in any normally prohibited location. Temporary no-parking signs will be enforced.  

Recreation and Nature Centers 

Monday, February 17: Chinquapin Park Recreation Center and Aquatics Facility, Charles Houston, and Patrick Henry Recreation Centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All other City of Alexandria recreation and nature centers will be closed.  

Resource Recovery 

Residential refuse, recycling, and yard waste will be delayed by one day during the week of Monday, February 17. The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center will be closed on that day. 
Curbside food waste will follow the normal collection service schedule. 

Torpedo Factory Art Center 

Monday, February 17: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. according to its standard operating schedule.
