Save the Dates: City of Alexandria’s FY2026 Budget Presentations
City Manager James Parajon will present the City of Alexandria’s Fiscal Year 2026 (FY2026) Proposed Budget to City Council on Tuesday, February 25, at 7 p.m. in City Hall, Council Chambers (301 King St.). The event will also be streamed on the City’s website. Additional details can be found on the City calendar.
Additionally, Parajon will host several in-person and virtual Public Presentations of the FY 2026 Proposed Budget, the first on Thursday, February 27, at 7 p.m. The location for this event is still to be determined. This event will provide residents the opportunity to receive an overview of the proposal, ask questions, and gain insight into the City of Alexandria’s budget process. Attend a Budget Work Session
You are invited to FY2026 Budget Council work sessions to hear and learn more about the budget. The Council is holding seven budget work sessions:
- Wednesday, February 26: Budget Work Session #1 - City Government & Alexandria City Public Schools Capital Improvement Programs
- Wednesday, March 5: Budget Work Session #2 - City Council/School Board
- Wednesday, March 12: Budget Work Session #3
- Wednesday, March 19: Budget Work Session # 4
- Wednesday, March 26: Budget Work Session # 5
- Tuesday, April 22: Budget Work Session #6 – Preliminary Add/Delete
- Monday, April 28: Budget Work Session #7 - Final Add/Delete
During Council budget work sessions, Council members work together to discuss and analyze the proposed budget while gathering information and providing guidance. During these work sessions, no formal actions or votes are made, but a lot of work is done to make those final decisions come together.
