The National Weather Service has advised that severe winter weather conditions are possible Friday, January 3 through the early evening. Visibility may be reduced, and snowfall may coat roadways between 3 and 6 p.m.

Snow and rain showers are expected through across the Washington Metropolitan area with localized bursts of heavier snow showers possible.

Additionally, the National Weather Service has issued an Enhanced Winter Storm Threat for Sunday, January 5 through Monday, January 6. Accumulating snow could mix with sleet and freezing rain, impacting Monday commutes.

Residents are advised to stay tuned to local media to stay informed of current weather conditions and forecasts. Residents are also advised to avoid driving in severe winter conditions. If you must use your car, make sure the car is adequately fueled, and you have a charged cell phone with you. Keep emergency supplies in the car, such as a shovel, extra gloves and hat, a blanket, a flashlight with extra batteries, food, a towrope or chain, and extra money.

For additional information, please visit alexandriava.gov/Snow. Stay tuned to local media and monitor the National Weather Service winter weather website for further weather updates.
