Alexandria Commission on Persons with Disabilities Seeks Applications, Nominations for Scholarship and Awards
The Alexandria Commission on Persons with Disabilities (ACPD) is seeking applications for the Gerry Bertier Scholarship and nominations for the John Duty Collins III Outstanding Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Award. The deadline for scholarship applications and award nominations is April 30.
The Gerry Bertier Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded only to an Alexandria resident or student with a disability who is seeking post-secondary education.
Nominations are being sought for the following awards:
- John Duty Collins III Outstanding Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Award : This award recognizes an individual who advocates for and contributes to the promotion of equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in Alexandria.
- Commitment to Disability Award (in conjunction with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce): This award recognizes businesses that serve persons with disabilities in the community.
The awards and scholarship will be presented at a ceremony on June 26, at 5 p.m., at the American Physical Therapy Association (3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100).
