APD Announces Temporary Road Closures for November 24
ALEXANDRIA, VA. – There will be temporary road closures for the 47th Alexandria Turkey Trot 5 Miler.
The closures are scheduled to begin on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at 5:00 a.m. with the 1000-1100 blocks of Mt. Vernon Ave. between East Braddock Rd. and East Glendale Avenue. The streets affected by this temporary closure are slated to be reopened at 1:00 p.m.
Other road closures will begin at 8 a.m. which include:
- 600-2900 blocks of Mt. Vernon Ave. between E. Braddock Rd. and Hume Ave.
- Unit-100 blocks of Uhler Ave. between Mt. Vernon and Commonwealth Avenues
- Unit-100 blocks of E. Oxford Ave. between Mt. Vernon and Commonwealth Avenues
- 200-2500 blocks of Commonwealth Ave. between W. Mt. Ida and E/W Rosemont Avenues
- Unit block of W. Chapman St. between Commonwealth Ave. and Russell Rd.
- Unit block of W. Linden St. between Commonwealth Ave. and Russell Rd.
- Unit block of E. Linden St. between Russell Rd. and Mt. Vernon Ave.
- 300-400 blocks of Mt. Vernon Ave. between E. Linden and Walnut Streets
- Unit-100 blocks of E. Maple St. between Mt. Vernon and Commonwealth Avenues
- 400-2400 blocks of Commonwealth Ave. between Maple St. and Oxford Ave.
Please note Russell Road will have northbound and southbound traffic in one lane managed by officers.
The public can expect an increased police presence in the area, and drivers are asked to remain alert. Please note there is a possibility of other road closures that are not mentioned which would take place as an increased safety measure.
