Alexandria Police Investigation Update: Attempted Abduction at Holmes Run Dog Park
Alexandria, VA. - The Alexandria Police Department continues its investigation into the attempted abduction of an adult woman that occurred at approximately 6 p.m. yesterday at Holmes Run Dog Park, involving the woman being grabbed from behind and fighting off the attacker. The suspect fled and no arrest has been made.
Today, Detectives of the APD Criminal Investigations Division are recanvassing the area and speaking with business and warehouse owners along Wheeler Avenue and South Gordon Street, seeking further evidence and information.
The APD has increased patrol in the area and is asking the community to report any suspicious behavior to the APD non-emergency number 703-746-4444. If you see something, say something.
APD has established an online portal to collect evidence from the public. Detectives ask that anyone who may have audio, photographs, or video of this area from approximately 5:30 p.m. on into the evening submit it through the portal link below or scan the QR code. Police are on the scene of an attempted abduction at Tarleton Park off S. Gordon Street and Wheeler Ave.
The victim, an adult woman, described the attempted abductor as a white male, with brown hair, a blue sweatshirt, and camouflage shorts, who attempted to pull her into a wooded area. She was able to escape without injury.
On the scene, APD established a perimeter, utilizing K9 officers and the support of the Fairfax One Helicopter to search for the suspect.
