Let’s Talk Tuesday: New Support Group for Adult Survivors of Sexual Assault
A DCHS CONNECT NEWS HIGHLIGHT
January 13, 2022--Alexandria’s Sexual Assault Center is hosting a weekly series of evening support group meetings for adult survivors of sexual assault, called Let’s Talk Tuesday.
The meetings will be held virtually every Tuesday, starting January 25 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for six consecutive weeks. The group is open for age 18 and up from all genders.
The support meetings aim at walking with survivors in their recovery journey toward a new sense of wholeness by focusing on education and fostering creativity, confidence and self-worth.
Registration is required, prescreening is mandatory, and an appropriate fit for the group will be assessed by the clinician. The deadline for prescreening is January 21.
The group is closed, which means no new members will be allowed after the first session. If interested in attending, please email Gloria Saez at gloria.saez@alexandriava.gov.
Support groups offer a powerful method of healing for survivors of sexual violence. Hearing other survivors speak and receiving peer-level support provides a different form of support than therapy or advocacy provide.
