Local Vaccine Efforts and Hiring Featured in Latest Strive & Thrive Podcast Episode
A DCHS CONNECT NEWS HIGHLIGHT
April 9, 2021--The City’s expanding vaccination efforts and job opportunities available at vaccination sites are discussed in the latest episode of the Strive & Thrive Alexandria Podcast, a production of the City of Alexandria Workforce Development Center (WDC).
Featured guest Dr. Anne Gaddy, Deputy Director of the Alexandria Health Department, provides an update on the City’s efforts--including what residents can expect when visiting a vaccination site and vaccination supplies--and explains the range of temporary jobs available at a vaccination site.
More than 100 temporary positions are open, ranging from health professionals to support and administration. To review and apply, visit alexandriava.gov/jobs, choose City Employment Opportunities (Open to All), and search “COVID” among the open positions.
WDC, in collaboration with the City’s Human Resources department, is leading an effort to help fill these roles. Staff are available to support residents interested in applying or needing assistance with their applications. Email wdc@alexandriava.gov or visit alexandriava.gov/WorkforceDevelopment for more information.
The Strive & Thrive Alexandria podcast provides insight into regional employment and economic trends as well as informs residents of the latest news about employment and career growth programs, new initiatives and benefits, and local jobs. The podcast is part of WDC’s Strive & Thrive initiative, which was launched last year to deliver services and programs remotely and online in order to reach more residents and employers seeking assistance during COVID-19.
WDC is a leader in shaping the initiatives and discourse around workforce and economy, along with jurisdictional partners, Virginia Career Works, Alexandria Economic Development Partnership, and other business-oriented organizations. The podcast allows residents to access and engage with a growing collection of thought leadership and resources relevant to job seekers and business owners in the region.
