DCHS Launches Text Line to Increase Access, Assistance from a Distance
A DCHS CONNECT NEWS HIGHLIGHT
December 18, 2020--The Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) has launched a text line to increase access to programs and services.
Like many social service organizations across the country, DCHS has been adapting and expanding services in the midst of the physical distancing requirements related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The text line is the latest service offered to expand “Assistance from a Distance” options.
Residents can learn how to contact DCHS programs and services on an easy-to-access “Assistance from a Distance'' flyer available in English, Spanish, Arabic and Amharic. In addition to previously existing phone and virtual services, residents can now text 703.346.5599 and receive a response in English or Spanish during the hours listed on the flyer; additional language options are available.
DCHS launched a Spanish text line in August to provide Spanish speaking subscribers with accurate and timely information important to them and their families throughout COVID-19 and after. To subscribe, text ALEXINOESP to 888777.
DCHS also launched social media platforms to help increase access to resources, services and programs and broaden engagement with clients, residents and stakeholders. Follow DCHS on Facebook and Twitter for the latest information and updates on resources.
Learn more about ways that DCHS has been adapting and growing programs and service options, including expanding access to health and healthcare treatment and resources through telehealth and supporting Alexandria’s workforce and employers by providing events, services and training online and remotely.
