Heads-up: Survey Work Starts Week of June 1

Project crews will be working along the I-395 ramp and eastbound Duke Street during the week of June 1 to conduct site surveys. Community members may see mobile single-lane closures while this work is underway.

Work is scheduled to take place between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Please use caution when traveling through the area and follow posted signs and crew directions.

Project Description

The City of Alexandria is updating the exit ramp leading from northbound I-395 to eastbound Duke Street. The ramp and roadway interchange improvements are necessary to facilitate direct emergency vehicle access to the new INOVA Hospital complex planned for the former Landmark Mall site. Additionally, vehicular traffic is anticipated to increase associated with the new development.

Construction

Construction UPDATE

Construction is starting on the ramp leading from I-395 North to eastbound Duke Street. Crews will be conducting a mobile survey of the project area the week of Monday, June 1. Watch for intermittent lane closures and stopped vehicles along the ramp and eastbound Duke Street.  

Construction Hours:

  • Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

 

Community Engagement

The City held a hybrid pre-construction community meeting at Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central Library from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5.
