Question: What is the pay for a youth worker in the Alexandria Summer Youth Employment program?

Response:

Funded through general funds, the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides meaningful work experience and skill-building opportunities for 170 youths. SYEP participants are paid Virginia’s minimum wage of $12.77 per hour. The minimum wage is scheduled to increase on January 1, 2027, to $13.75 per hour; this wage will be in effect for the summer 2027 SYEP cohort.
