Did You Know...The City Collects Christmas Trees for Recycling?
Tips and information for a "green" holiday season.

Sort Less. Recycle More!
The City of Alexandria is happy to announce that new materials can be recycled curbside. The following items can now go in the yellow bin!:

  • Plastic yogurt & sour cream tubs (no deli containers or clam shells containers)
  • Plastic peanut butter jars
  • Plastic flower pots, buckets and pails
  • Aluminum foil and trays
  • Non-metallic gift wrapping paper
  • Bagged plastic film (grocery bags, shrink wrap, dry-cleaner bags, bubble wrap and other flexible plastic packaging, all contained within one tied-closed bag)
  • Gable-top milk and juice cartons

Recycling is an everyday way to fight global climate change.  In celebration of America Recycles Day, November 15, the Recycling Program is challenging residents to do more!

EXPANDED COLLECTION DAYS! Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection is every Monday and Saturday (except holidays) from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Business/Multi-Family Recycling – the City of Alexandria is suspending all commercial recycling collection services as of July 1st, 2008. Businesses and Multi-Family properties are required to implement a comprehensive recycling program, and file a Recycling Implementation Plan (RIP) form with the city.
