Utilities

The City of Alexandria does not operate any public utilities. The following companies are the primary providers of their respective servers. Some of these services may also be available from other providers.

For water service or problems, contact Virginia American Water at (703-549-7080).
For landline telephone service or problems, contact Verizon at (703-876-7000).
For cable television service or problems, contact Comcast at (703-823-3000).
For electric power service, power outages, or power line issues, contact Dominion Virginia Power at (888-667-3000).
If you smell gas, leave the area immediately and contact Washington Gas at (703-750-1400). For general customer service, call 703-750-1000.
If you are planning any kind of excavation or digging work, call Miss Utility of Virginia (811 or 800-552-7001) at least 48 hours before you dig.
