The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office is recruiting qualified candidates for the position of Courthouse Deputy Sheriff. Candidates for this position should hold current law enforcement certification from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and have at least eight years of experience.

Courthouse deputies primarily work at the Alexandria Courthouse located at 520 King Street in Old Town Alexandria. The responsibilities of this position include courthouse and courtroom security, lockup control center, contraband screening, transportation, and other duties as assigned by a supervisor. Other responsibilities include service of court papers, warrant execution, community engagement, and general law enforcement duties within the City of Alexandria.

Candidates who are currently certified by the DCJS as Law Enforcement Officers will earn a minimum starting salary of $81, 882.06. Prior years of relevant Virginia law enforcement experience will be reviewed and can result in additional salary increases.
