On Friday, September 16, the City of Alexandria will celebrate PARK(ing) Day, a worldwide event that promotes the importance of creating and preserving public green space in urban areas by temporarily reclaiming on-street parking spaces and transforming them into exciting and imaginative park spaces, or “parklets.”

Join City agencies, local businesses and nonprofit organizations as they transform several on-street parking spaces around the city into parklets and offer prepackaged refreshments and giveaways from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The PARK(ing) Day event is free and open to the public.
