Parking Notice for Charles Houston Juneteenth Events
On Saturday, June 22 starting at 10:30 a.m., Charles Houston Recreation Center will be holding two events in recognition of Juneteenth, including a Bench Dedication from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. and a Celebration from 12 – 7 pm. The facility and the pool will also be open regular hours. Based on anticipated attendance for the events and pool visitors, utilization of alternative modes of transportation are encouraged.
Metro: The Braddock Road Metrorail station is located on Braddock Road. Both Yellow Line and Blue Line trains stop at the Braddock Rd. station, which is a 7-minute walk from Charles Houston Recreation Center. The Metrorail runs starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
DASH Bus: The DASH bus is free. The 30 and 31 line drops off at Madison St & N Patrick St, one block from Charles Houston Recreation Center. Dash buses run as early as 6 a.m. and as late as midnight on Saturday.
Capital Bikeshare: There are several dock stations within a short walk of the event site located at Madison St & Fairfax St, St Asaph & Pendleton St, Saint Asaph St & Madison St, and N Pitt St & Montgomery St.
Dockless Mobility: There are various dockless mobility devices throughout Old Town including e-scooters and e-bikes. Please note there is no riding on sidewalks per City code. When possible, please park in a scooter corral (Prince & Strand) or bike rack so as not to block the sidewalk or driveways.
Rideshare: Utilize Lyft and Uber through each of their respective app platforms for drop off and pick up at Charles Houston Recreation Center.

Parking: If choosing to drive and park, we recommend parking at a garage or lot away from Charles Houston. Colonial Parking Garage (652 Wythe St.) is a 4-minute walk from the facility and only $13 for the day, or there is local street parking along N Patrick and roads surrounding the facility. Please obey all parking signs before you park your vehicle.
