Repaving and Street Maintenance Update: Work Between April 15 and April 21

The Department of Transportation and Environmental Services is responsible for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, alleys, and more than 561 lane miles of road in the City of Alexandria. The paving, patching, sidewalk, and alley programs reflect our commitment to keeping this infrastructure in good condition so that pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and other users can safely travel through the City.

Businesses and residents whose streets are scheduled for resurfacing receive advance notice of paving work – typically by displayed project signs and/or letters. Temporary “No Parking” signs will also be posted before work begins. Please be sure to observe these signs to avoid tickets and potential towing of vehicles.

As a reminder, the Street Resurfacing list and schedule are subject to change. Factors that may affect work include, but are not limited to, weather conditions, equipment, other ongoing and future City projects, and utility work coordination.

Citywide Street Resurfacing

  • Forth Worth Avenue (from Fort Williams Parkway to end – Fort Worth Place)
  • Roberts Lane (from Duke Street to end)
  • East Uhler Avenue (from Mount Vernon to Commonwealth Avenue)
  • East and West Del Ray Avenue (from Russell Road to La Grande Avenue)
  • West Caton Avenue (from Sandford Street to Commonwealth Avenue)
  • Clyde Avenue (from East Bellefonte Avenue to East Uhler Avenue)
  • East and West Mason Avenue (from Stonewall Road to end)

Citywide Concrete Maintenance

ADA Ramp Enhancements/Curb and Gutter

  • West Mount Ida Avenue (Russell Road to Commonwealth Avenue)
  • West Uhler Avenue (Commonwealth Avenue to Sanford Street)

Storm Inlet Maintenance

  • 1819 North Quaker Lane
  • 903 North Kemper Street

Service Requests for Concrete Maintenance

  • 507 North Patrick Street
  • North Union Street at Quay Street

Complete Streets Concrete Projects

  • HDCP ramp at 2470 Mandeville Lane
  • HDCP ramp at Hickory Street and Kennedy Street
