Celebrate the Beginning of Alexandria's 275th Year
This July marks 275 years since Alexandria’s 1749 founding. The City of Alexandria will be celebrating with events from April through September, and we’re kicking it off at Waterfront Park on Saturday, April 6 from noon to 4 p.m.
The City of Alexandria's Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities team will be on hand at the celebration with an appearance by the Mobile Art Lab and an information table featuring the team from the Buddie Ford Nature Center. In partnership with Transportation & Environmental Services (T&ES), and in celebration of our 275th year, Parks and T&ES will be planting 275 trees in a variety of areas throughout the city, starting with one at Windmill Hill during the Kickoff Event.
Residents will be encouraged to join us via public transportation through a partnership with DASH and GoAlex. Dedicated bus routes will be available on April 6.
Visit the ALX275 webpage for the 275th Anniversary Kickoff schedule and to stay on top of all the festivities and learning opportunities this year.
This milestone is not just a recognition of more than two centuries of history; it’s also an opportunity to amplify the shared experiences of our community and the collective achievements that have shaped our city’s identity.
ALX275 is everyone’s chance to take part in history! Share your story to be memorialized in our City’s history. Don’t forget to download the City’s Social Media Toolkit to join in the celebration.
