DCHS Programs Receive Accreditation from CARF–the Gold Standard
DCHS PROGRAMS RECEIVE ACCREDITATION FROM CARF- THE GOLD STANDARD
January 26, 2024: The City of Alexandria’s Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) has received re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). CARF is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services. Through accreditation, CARF assists service providers in demonstrating value by the quality of their services and meeting internationally-recognized organizational and program standards.
The accreditation process was led by the DCHS Quality Assurance Team, and included a rigorous triennial, two-day audit.
During this process, the Quality Assurance Team emphasized the Department’s administrative practices and program outcomes, client and peer input and involvement, and its commitment to continuous quality improvement. Congratulations to the following programs that received a three-year CARF reaccreditation:

Developmental Disabilities Child Case Management

Parent and Infant Education (PIE)

Opioid Treatment

Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Employment Services

Developmental Disabilities Day Support, Non-Center Based.
In their final report, CARF stated that DCHS demonstrates a commitment and substantial conformance to the CARF standards. DCHS is actively developing and implementing procedures and minor policy revisions to align with any CARF recommendations.
