Project Description
Redevelopment of the former Landmark Mall site in preparation for the proposed INOVA Hospital complex includes the addition of new public infrastructure, such as streets, sidewalks, street lights, storm water inlets, sewer lines, and open space landscaping. The public infrastructure will be designed and constructed by the Developer in coordination with the City. The City is contributing funding, as well as providing construction inspection and oversight. This allows the City to verify work is completed as indicated on the approved plans, before authorizing release of funding.

Temporary Closures on 5700-6000 Blocks of Duke Street to Begin December 30
Starting December 30, 2024 through August 1, 2025, eastbound Duke Street to Van Dorn Street ramp and the Van Dorn Street to eastbound Duke Street ramp will be closed to all traffic. These closures will coincide with the Construction at WestEnd infrastructure project to include installation of roadway infrastructure.

Traffic for the eastbound Duke Street to Van Dorn Street ramp will be detoured through the neighboring streets as follows:
- From Duke Street, right onto South Walker Street
- Left onto Stevenson Avenue.
- Signs will direct traffic onto Van Dorn Street.
Traffic for the Van Dorn Street to eastbound Duke Street ramp will be detoured through the neighboring streets as follows:
- Signs will direct Van Dorn Street traffic onto Stevenson Avenue.
- Right onto South Walker Street.
- Signs will direct traffic onto Duke Street.
During this period, both ramps will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians and Duke Street traffic will be detoured through neighboring streets. Traffic control devices will be installed for safety purposes along the detour route. All businesses along Duke Street will remain open during this period.
