Project Description
The City of Alexandria is replacing approximately 205 linear feet of existing concrete retaining wall with a vegetative reinforced revetment and bioengineered soil. Additional stream stabilization measures will include clearing out invasive species and planting native vegetation on the stream bank in opposition of the proposed vegetated wall.

Project Budget: $310,000
This project is funded by Capital Improvement Program (CIP) stormwater management funds.

Construction
Construction Update
The contractor installed sandbags and a pump serving the upstream and downstream side of the work area. A noise variance permit was obtained for the pump operation. Work on the Envirolok wall has also started. The contractor has started delivering Envirolok units and completed the survey stake out for the Envirolok wall.
Community Engagement
The City of Alexandria held a pre-construction open house for the Oakland Terrace-Timber Branch Channel Wall Reconstruction project on Thursday, June 27 at the project site. Staff provided information on and answered questions about the upcoming replacement of a retaining wall along Timber Branch between Oakland Terrace and West Timber Branch Parkway.

Parking
- Curbside parking adjacent to the project will be temporarily suspended to provide site access.
Street Closures
- Periodic lane closures on West Timber Branch Parkway and Oakland Terrace during construction hours.
